Lehman College Art Gallery and the Lovinger Theater present Adrianne Wortzel's Globe Theater: Sayonara Diorama,a multiple-site, electronic media performance featuring a repertory company of robots and actors.March 28 and again on April 4, 1998 in the Lovinger Theater, performances begin at 8 p.m.
A panel will be presented on March 28 focusing on the issues of artists and new technologies. Panelists will include Robert Atkins, art critic; Matthew Drutt, curator, Guggenheim Museum, Carol Stakenas, Assistant Director of Creative Time, Kathy Brew, director, Thundergulch twilight@the wall series, Marah Rosenberg of Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies, Cynthia Pannuci, director, ASCI, and "Tipper Gore".
Directions to The Lovinger Theater:
A shuttlebus will be available from downtown Manhattan for both dates. On April 4 the bus will leave from otuside the Foundation Building of the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. The exact departure location for March 28 can be ascertained when you call for bus reservations. Please make a reservation for the round trip bus trip ($15) by calling Lehman College Art Gallery at 718 960-8731 and leaving your phone number for confirmation.
Subways: IRT No. 4 or IND 'D' to Bedford Park Boulevard station. Walk west on BPB 2 or 3 blocks to Gate 8 entrance to Campus (Bedford Pk Blvd and Paul Ave), Lovinger Theatre is in Speech and Theatre Bldg., first to right inside gate.
Car: take MajorDeegan Expressway (I-87) North to Van Cortlandt Park South exit. Turnright and ascend hill. Turn right at Goulden Avenue: follow signs tocampus. OR: Saw Mill River Pkwy. or Henry Hudson Pkwy. to Mosholu Pkwy.exit. Follow signs to campus.

Wortzel's installations and theoretical writings explore the possibilities of new electronic media in relation to traditional art forms such as opera and the novel, and use of the internet as a performance medium.
Adrianne Wortzel's Globe Theater features a repertory company of robotic actors in conjunction with human actors in on-line and real performance. A non-discursive narrative is developed for each venue of Globe Theater.

The Globe Theater Company for Sayonara Diorama consists of Adrianne Wortzel, Ibrahim Quraishi-Director, Frank Schneider-Clan_Is_Raw_Herd (Charles Darwin), Arthur Aviles-Master Blemye, Silvia Birklein-Pandora, John Glenn III-Master Panotti, Timothy May, Masayasu Nakanishi -DaVinci/Kiru, Clilly Castiglia-Sound Designer, Kate McDowell,-Costume, Carol Young-Costume, Ron Kiley-Stage/Production Manager, and others.
Earlier work by Wortzel has included The Ship's Detective, The Hidden Archivists at the Anchorage, and Nomad Is An Island: FortDa in Linz. These performances constitute the first three scenes of Act I of Globe Theater, and were played out respectively in 1997 at Cooper Union in Technoseduction, CreativeTime's Art at the Anchorage at the Brooklyn Bridge and at Ars Electronica, Linz, Austria.
Adrianne Wortzel is currently an artist in residence at Lehman College Art Gallery which has been funded by the Electronic Media an Film Program of the New York State Council on the Arts.
