Video, mechanical toy robots

1998
An ironic video vignette utilized as a projection in the artist's Globe Theater’s Production of Sayonara Diorama. Sayonara Diorama was an electronic multimedia performance with robots, live actors, video and live streaming participation, performed at the Lovinger Theater, Lehman College, NY, May 28 and April 4, 1998. The fictive armature of the play takes place thirty years after the first Voyage of the Beagle. Charles Darwin sails again to the Galapagos to document the changes which had occurred between his two voyages. Darwin finds himself washed ashore on a yet unchartered island inhabited by inexplicable creatures. Marooned on the island, Darwin begins to study them, unaware that these creatures in turn commence to study him. Sayonara Diorama was funded by the Lehman College Art Gallery and the Electronic Media and Film Program, The New York State Council On The Arts.
